Yes in the longer run it will affect the HDD life, as it has mechanical moving parts.

One way to ensure External power HDD also goes off is to connect the hdd power adapter at the back of the Amp you are using, lot of Amp's have power supply output at the back. So when you turn on the amp it switches on and when you turn it off it will switch off,

Try connecting the same and let me know if it works ...

Infact if multiple outputs are there, you can even connect the wdtv at the back of the amp power out so when u switch it off even wdtv will switch off

check the kind of drive it is, i.e., IDE/SATA or SSD. If it is SSD, i.e., Solid State (as are in a lot of new gadgets), you don't need to worry too much as there are no moving parts. older and/or cheaper players would have IDE/SATA (i don't reckon SCSI or iSCSI).

hemant you get it in Lamington road. MX brand. They cost about Rs. 800-900
Make sure to specify that converter should have Optical IN and Co-axial OUT, as they have converters for reverse function as well.

MX dealor is located in last shop in 3rd lane @ Lamington road.next to TV sparepart shop.

MX dealor is located in last shop in 3rd lane @ Lamington road.next to TV sparepart shop.

OMG!!

One who has never been Lamington Road may visualize the following:

1. All lanes are neatly marked "Lane 1", "Lane 2" etc.
2. All these "lanes" turn only to one side from Lamington Road.
3. There is only one TV spare shop amongst other "general" stores.
4. The MX dealer will have a big sign board named "MX Dealer".
5. There is only one MX dealer in Lamington Road.

If this is reality then one should easily locate your shop
But when he actually lands over there, with your directions, he will get a heart attack:lol:

Just kidding buddy;)

'My take is, if you can find good quality legal 720p or 1080p then its anyday MUCH MUCH better than your DVDs'

I completely agree with him. I downloaded a Jackie Chan movie Accidental Spy. It was a 1080p.mkv.(took a loooong time. But it was worth it.) Converted to a DVD 720p and played it on my Panny Tau. Man what a PQ! I was so thrilled by the way my humble CRT handled the color and detail of the movie. The sound was awesome and clear.( the surround effect was fantastic , that i should thank venkat for putting me on to DAC14AWG). The bass shook my bedroom.
When my son, who is not aware of the discussions in HIFI vision, commented the PQ looks way better than the original DVDs, i knew Ram was right. I wonder how this movie will look on a Full HD telly!

cheers,
sri

PS: Guys, the distance Jackie goes to give an action film! The action on our desi movies look like has a long way to go. I think we should give him a salute.

You downloaded a legal 1080p movie? hmmm...:cool::rolleyes::cool:

OK, the point I wanted to make here is that DVD cannot be 720p (HD).
DVD supports max 480/576p.

But for your CRT this is the best content you could have ever got!
So enjoy!

Here are the setting for ConvertXtoDVD

720 is the horizontal lines and 480/576 are the vertical lines.

In HD it is 1280*720
FHD = 1920*1080

The height (vertical lines) always vary as per aspect ratio, which are different from movie to movie.

but how to remove an audio track entirely? say i wanna remove the italian dubbed audio. how do u do that via convertx?

also, mkv toolnix spoils the entire mkv file. did it for a movie, and convertx just wouldnt accept the modified mkv!

Thought I had already answered it. I never had a problem with MKVtoolnix till now. Can you state in more detail what the error is?

If you want to remove from the original MKV file then you have to use MKVtoolnix or a similar tool.

If you want to remove from the converted DVD file then right click on "Audio Streams" and then select "Remove Audio Stream".

This setting of Audio Streams/Remove Audio Streams is available in Convert X To DVD "Titleset" section.

This is how it looks in the SW. You need to right click on french Audio and remove it.

In case you want to remove audio from MKV, use mkvmerge as shown below:

In the pic below you will note that I have unchecked the AC3 (French) Audio and moved up the DTS (English) audio. I have also unchecked the subtitles as they are not English and I will not be needing them.

Now I have given a file name with (new) at the end. Click on start muxing now..
