Vap: Check this thread: http://www.hifivision.com/media-streaming-players/3801-wd-tv-vs-oppo-dvdp-vs-philips-4750-a.html
WD TV is very close in up[scaling and WD Live would be slightly better bcos of a better chipset.
Illusion: I am using Maxtor 1 TB for one year without any hassles.
Hi Needed some advice here.
I need more storage and I am not reallysure whether I should buy those external hdd's anymore . There has been many a case where the external casing fails of the HDD with the HDD being perfectly ok in the inside/ Breaking open the case and extracting the HDD voids your warranty. Hence I was thinking of going for an HDD Docking Station spmething like this :-
Amazon.com: Thermaltake BlacX Duet USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive ST0014U: Electronics
and adding Internal HDD's as and when required. This way it works out to be cheaper as well as occupies lesser desk space. What say all ?
Edit: Also I wonder whether the dock will be recognized by wd tv !!
WD Live uses a more powerful Sigma 8655 (old WD uses 8635) which is more powerful and has better audio qualities and is supposed to be better than the RealTek used in Xtreamer. I havent not checked it but this is what I heard from my friends in US who is having both.
I think WD might not have compatibility issue as it works with SUB enclosed hard drives also. But you never know with these things until and unless we check![]()
Just did , and your point here ?
Sorry,but which point?
I posted abt Divx playback.
Oh , ok I thought you were replying to my post.![]()
Just read your post, what is the prob with WD?Sound or video?
No problems as such, I was just wondering whether HDD docking Stations will work with WD TV. HDD docking stations are much scalable as compared to buying external Hard Drives as well as cost effective too.
I think he is talking about sata dock only, which come with e sata and usb port.
Probably u can connect the usb port to WDTV and it may work. Don't know if anyone has tried the same and wether it will work or not
This is what I am talking about :-
Amazon.com: Thermaltake BlacX Duet USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive ST0014U: Electronics
So any idea whether this is worth going for ?
