Which Internet Connection are you using ??

Hi Dushie,
Thanks for your post man! i have just given a request to Airtel to change to Freedom plan of Rs 1699 speed 1Mbps unlimited plan. Airtel says it will be consistent 1 Mbps and not up to 1 Mbps. It will be activated before 5.30 pm tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed it will be a consistent 1 Mbps

cheers,
sri

hello ,, what is your expeirence with the new Airtel plan ???

I have recently upgraded to 1Mbps unlimited plan in Airtel for 1699. I have this for over a week now. I have tested the speed everyday to see if it is actually 1Mbps or not. What i have seen is that download is surely 1Mbps and sometimes it has gone upto 1.2Mbps. The upload speed is always 700-800Kbps.

Now watching youtube is amazing I don't have to wait for anything to be buffered.

Also i can work from home through VPN. Previously in 512 Kbps plan i had issues doing my office work at home. Now it is much better.

Airtel has always been consistent with there speeds. Never had a problem with that.

I would still say BSNL if it works is the best as it provides the Best speeds in the town. BSNL service has improved a lot. But since i need to sometimes work from home, i need guaranteed availability and hence opted for Airtel.

Download speeds are designed to be much more than upload speeds because of usage pattern - the ISPs cater to more consumption of data than contribution. This also prevents people hosting websites from homes since it tends to kill the bandwidth in case something on the host became or was popular (like music, movies, porn etc...)

okay got 750 plus unlimited pack activated. can anyone tell me the difference between this and the 750 unlimited pack? please help.

Most probably will go for Airtel plan :

1399/ pm.. 512k day/ 1MB night..

for 1MB/ all day i will have to shell out 1699/-

BSNL has 512/all day for 1500/-..
so first plan of airtel looks good.

I assume you are talking about BSNL. In the 750+ plan, you don't have to pay telephone rentals. There are no free calls and you are charged according to the One India plan( Rs. 1/- per call). In the 750 plan, you have to pay telephone rentals as per the calling plan that you have selected.

what is upper cap on airtel? My MTNL is unlimited!( My downloads are manytimes 15+ GB - more than 10 GB upper caps of many ISP's.

Have any of you used Tikona's internet services ?

I am residing in a not-so-tony neighbourhood in Mumbai where Airtel, Indicom etc options arent available. There are some technical issues with MTNL - so I have a choice of just cable internet (Sify/Hathway) or wireless.

Currently I am using Reliance Wimax services. Its fast and havent encountered any downtime yet - but its a little pricey at 2199 for an unlimited 1mbps connection.

Now Tikona is offering a Wimax service 600 kbps day/1 mbps night offer at Rs. 1249 only. Looks really attractive, so going to give it a try. Want to know if I should give up my Reliance immediately or hold onto it while I evaluate Tikona ...

Hi Srinivas,

You are really lucky to get 1 mbps download speed. BTW how do you check the download speed - by actually downloading any movie or music ?

At Noida, I have also the same 1 mbps unlimited Airtel plan and I get max 63-64 KBPS as the real download speed and it takes approx. 3.5 to 4 hours to download a 650 MB movie.

(additional Rs.500 as refundable deposite,so total 3k)

Hi

I would like your views on the net connection u are using : which brand, type, speed, monthly charges, your rating..

I am using BSNL Broadband 256 kbps / Monthly Unlimited download plan/ 800Rs/month..
speed nothing great and not suitable for heavy downloads.
regards
Hi,

I agree with other members; BSNL connection is the best according to me.

I am using Home Combo 500C plan from BSNL for the past six months. In this plan, 175 free calls and 1.5GB of upload/download is free. If you are not keen on free calls, you can subscribe Home Combo 500C+, in which 2.5GB upload/download and 50 calls are free; but the rent is Rs. 600 + service tax.

I have rented the modem from BSNL which costs Rs. 50 per month.
