Hi,

On of the forum member utkarsh is selling Marantz 5005 for 30k which is 2 months old, new one costs 35k. Its a very good AVR for that price.

Frankly, the Yam 671 @ 32k is a better option than Marantz 5005 @ 30k. Good compromise between multi ch. and stereo sound...

the prices look like MRP. You shd be able to get about 10%-15% discount on MRP

Price is on the higher side, probably MRP. You listed out AVR costing from 70K down to 23K and looks confused. First mention your budget.

My friend is visiting UK. Initially I thought of asking him to carry Yamaha RX-V671 (GBP~300) and a good 5.1 speaker package (GBP~200). Then I learnt that for more than Rs. 25000 of items imported to India would fetch custom duty of ~ 37.5%.

So now plan changed to buy AVR from India and speakers from UK.

I got a very good quotes of AVR in Navi Mumbai.

Yamaha RX-V371 : ~ Rs. 13.5K
Yamaha RX-V571 : ~ Rs. 22.2K
Yamaha RX-V671 : ~ Rs. 37K
Yamaha RX-V863 : ~ Rs. 35K
Denon 1312 : ~ Rs. 16K
Denon 1912 : ~ Rs. 31.5K

I am more inclined towards yamaha as Denon 1912 doesn't have video upscaling feature.

Within yamaha is it worth spending extra 16K for 671 compared to 571? What is the difference between 571 and 671?

I am not going to use Network feature and I not an Apple fan so will not use Air-play feature as well. I heard that 671 has discrete amp so the sound quality will be much more than 571? Is it true?

Please guys help me in deciding.....

Buddy can you tell me where in Navi Mumbai you got those prices? I would like to check some stuff in that store.

As to your question, I'm not really an expert, but from the yamaha website comparison chart, I can see a few major drawbacks of 571:

1. Less power
2. No Pure Direct (makes a noticeable difference to music according to various reviews)
3. No component upscaling (not an issue if you don't use component like me)
4. No multi zone support
5. No dialogue lift
6. No Networking features, App etc.

But if you are looking at something in 671's budget, maybe you should look at Pioneer 1022 if you don't mind that brand.

Other than airplay feature I think the other difference is the watt/ch is higher in 671. I have the 571 and it is superb and I do not think that you will miss anything from 671 if you buy 571 as anyway you are not a apple fan and just the higher wattage.
