The JBL Synthesis Array 2 System!!
[IMG2]http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/6396/jbltwoarraysystem.png[/IMG2]Bring the movies home with the JBL Synthesis 2 Array system. The 2 Array system features a combination of electronics and speakers that is designed to bring the ambience of a cinema hall to a room sized up to 8000 cubic feet. Comprising of a processor/controller, a digital equalizer, a 7 channel amplifier, and massive sub-woofers, the 2 Array system is calibrated by a factory trained technician using sophisticated computer based analyzers to deliver distortion free sound at very high volumes.

At Decibel, the Array 2 System is supported by a Runco LS5 projector with a Whitney Anamorphic Lens for perfect video.

Hemanth, there is no AVR in JBL Synthesis. What is provided is a processor/controller, a computer controlled equalizer, and multi channel power amplifiers. These are serious stuff for people who want to and can afford to have a dedicated room for some serious home cinema.

JBL Synthesis is not installed as such. Installation is done literally from the civil stage with serious consideration to room acoustics, size, and placement of speakers. Once the room size, viewer size, and other details are fed to a program, it will provide the exact placement position for each speaker and sub woofer, as well as the amplification to be used. Once the installation is done, the equalizer, using a computer, calibrates the whole system. Sometimes, the calibration itself can run to a few days of finite adjustment.

The end result is a sound that you will not even hear in a cinema hall. A sound that is delivered with precision and accuracy across all frequencies.

Cheers

Seems like twin brothers only one is darker!

Lexicon MCD 12

BTW Lexicon is also harman brand - in premium bracket --

Can anyone confirm?

Hemant,

You are right. But these are not exactly same. I think Synthesis have some extra algorithms/processing for room measurement and correction.

Since the Synthesis version is not really consumer solution, there is not much info in the public domain.

Venkat,

Its a pre amp/processor. Lexicon is a pre-pro too. It has the same functions as Avr minus amplifier.

Manoj, it is not that simple.

An AVR is an amalgam of a receiver, a pre-processor for audio with audio decoding, a video processor, a switch for distribution of inputs and outputs, and of course the amplifier.

The JBL Synthesis if a different animal. The Synthesis electronics consists of separate equipment.

1. Controller
Designed for the largest Synthesis theater installations as well as multiroom applications, the SDP-40HD digital surround processor/system controller offers eight analog audio inputs, six digital audio inputs, one 5.1-channel analog input, six HDMI inputs, three component inputs, three S-video inputs and two composite video inputs with 12 balanced and 12 unbalanced audio outputs, in addition to Zone 2 and Record Audio capabilities. Theres also an RS-232 port for connection to control systems, as well as for future upgrades.

2. Synthesiser
With 4th-order electronic crossover networks for use with the bi-amplified speaker in the Synthesis One Array system or running full-range for the largest Everest, K2 and Atlas systems, the SDEC-4500 offers up to 12 channels of input and 20 channels of output with up to 256 bands of parametric EQ running at 24-bit and 96kHz, making this system better than anything youve ever heard at the cinema or theater. Custom configurations for special needs can be created by JBL Synthesis Engineering to suit any installation you can imagine.

3. Video Processing
When it comes to video processing, Lumagen has the best game around for 2D and the only game in town for 3D. Whether you're looking to maximize the video performance of your home theater with studio quality scaling and calibration, or simply want to watch a movie as the director intended, Lumagen video processors will open your eyes. With numerous advanced controls, including Lumagen's No-ring(TM) scaling, geometry control and 3D color management, your home theater can reach it's full potential.

4. Amplifiers.

5. Speakers.

Once you install the system, there is a sophisticated calibration involving some 8 microphones where each channel is adjusted individually to deliver the perfect sound and work well with the sub woofers.

The JBL Synthesis does not compete with AVRs of any calibre. Most of the knowledge comes from installing thousands of equipment professionally for cinema halls. Harman and JBL have worked with Hollywood for a long time and have been instrumental in the design of the sound delivery system.

Cheers
