Bought a tube pre amp from AliExpress.Now the tracking status is ‘Held by custom’.Can any one say what happens next.

You’ll get don’t worry. I got little bear pre from them. It reached properly. Nowadays they are sending message when it reaches the local post.

The pre amp cleared the Chennai customs and I am set to receive it on Monday. Bought for USD 60 from aliexpress.
Planning to use it as a pre amp to my Yamaha receiver RX-497.

You will get the item safely like the other fellow member pointed out, you may have to shell out few more money for clearance in some cases, AFAIK they take the package in random for scrutiny, In my case, few times it got stuck at customs and got cleared after paying the duty but most of the cases they came out through "green channel" If you lost the package or its not functioning, you can open the dispute and the Aliexpress team is always favoring the customer side and refunding is like amazon. Once I bought a "Tcon" PCB for my old Samsung 3D TV which was not functioning when I connected. Same was communicated and they asked me to send the copy of the postage proof that am returning, upon sending the postage receipt, they refunded the full money which was round 6K.

One query: Will this pre amp give you more robust and live sound than connecting an aux source directly to the amp? Am in look out for a Graphic Equalizer for a better flexibility in line with my taste of listening. If this can help to an extent, I should also consider this.

Well I just wanted to have a taste of the tube sound and went for this pre amp knowing fully well that I am stepping into untested waters atleast for me.I know it won’t be a full blown tube experience but just wanted to know if a couple of tubes can make any difference to my stereo setup.And this was cheap too. Yes what you mentioned above is basically what I am getting,but with Bluetooth.

Seem they have upped the price since I bought it.

As I said before I am just experimenting and I would surely share my experience here.As far as graphic equaliser is concerned, I have zero experience with them as I don’t use it even with online players.

I have upgraded to GE tube. got it from Aliexpress itself. They reduced the harshness to a certain level I can say. But in case of GE tube they dispatched little late.

Got the Nobsound pre amp few days back from AliExpress Though seller has quoted only 10 USD on the package for the 60 USD amp,I had to pay Rs.505 as customs duty.The package arrived without any damage and all the three tubes were intact.

Connected it to my Yamaha RX-497 and tried the Bluetooth first,and was quite pleased with the result.The little guy immediately connected with my iPad and the flac songs came to life on my Wharfs..Played ARR,Raja and a wide variety of film music.Though my Yamaha gives a very clean sound, I always felt it was a little too ‘clinical’. Effects of coming off from a couple of Marantz stereo amps I fancy. The pre,I feel has taken the edge off the Yamaha.I prefer the lows to be controlled and the tube pre does a fair job of it.The yamaha has a good sound stage and the Nobsound has done nothing to reduce it.Played in the pure direct mode on the Yamaha and felt it gave a little better soundstage.
Spinning the Sultans Of Swing and Doors cds on my Oppo also went well, with Mark Knoffler pleasing my senses as always.

Ordered the GE Jan5654 from AliExpress,as they are universally recommended as an upgrade to the 6j1 tubes.Hope they make a significant difference to the Nob.

I had ordered a DDPai M6 which is supposed to be a very high quality dash cam. The package took it's time but I received it intact and I was charged no customs. I believe customs is always a factor of luck and there is no rule whether it will be charged or not. The package though was marked 20$ though it is worth 120$.

I had also ordered some shoes for my wife and a bag recently. Received the bag, 1 shoe seems to have been given to the wrong destination by Speed Post India (have raised a concern with the seller) and a few shoes are in transit.

Did you pay duty at the doorstep or you had to go post office for that ?

No,I paid it to the postman at doorstep.
