Hello FMs - after a lot of delibration, I bought Epson HC 2000 so thought of sharing my experience. I chose Epson HC 2000 over Benq 1070 due to the following reason:

1) Replacement cost of the lamp is much cheaper in LCD projectors
2) Cheap 3D glasses - bought Samsung SSG 5100 (set of 4) for Rs 3700
3) Price of the projector: bought it from Amazon (US) and got it delivered at a friend's place in the US so total cost was $ 850 (Including $ 70 as tax)

I hand-carried it in my cabin baggage from NY and currently projecting on an off-white wall in the living room. Below are some pics - let me know if you are unable to view it.

Will write more after watching it for some more time but as of now, I am really satisfied with it.

Congrats Riki, Awesome quality. I coud see it in your pics. I am a big of Epson.I wish I could have the demo of it with ur permission :)

Have added 2 more pics from the movie - Avatar which was coming on Tata Sky y'day. I am yet to test the 3D capabilities as the Blue ray discs will arrive on May 2.

Congrats!

Same to same as TW5200 sold in India :D save the price

Need to take up issue with acquaintance @ Epson Sales Team to query why such significant price difference.

No, Epson India won't support warranty but if you just do the fortnightly maintenance of keeping the unit filter clean, you should face no issues.

Enjoy
:)

Just checked the Epson websites..(India & USA), TW5200 which is sold here is the same as Epson 2030 and not Epson 2000..the difference was in the lighting (1800 Lumens for HC 2000 vs 2000 lumens for 2030) and the contrast ration...

Epson 2030 is trading for atleast $120 more in the USA, which narrows the price difference quite a bit (compared to the India model)

skjain: you are right about HC 2030 but there is only a marginal difference between both and it cannot be distinguished with naked eyes. Epson usually releases a version to be sold online and it is a little cheaper than the store version. Even if you consider the price of Epson 2030, it will work out to be $ 970 ~ Rs 58000 - still much cheaper than TW5200 which is available at Rs 89000 after discount in India (MRP is Rs 99000)

Hey rikhi...nice clarification...even I am confused about the price difference, and getting tempted abt getting a 6100/8200 from the US...however, the warranty bit is giving me jitters (also it may b v difficult to carry a huge projector like 8200 without customs)

Great purchase mate. Can you tell us a bit more about them 3D glasses?

Thanks John. I bought Samsung SSG 5100 glasses (pack of 4) from ebay.in @ Rs 3700 as it was cheaper than $20 per glass amazon US. These are powered by batteries which last for 150 hours.

Will Full HD Samsung 3D Active Glasses SSG 5100GB work with Epson TW6100?

is 5200 worth buying over 6100? Asking as difference between the 2 is twenty eight thousand.

Here is the comparison between the 2

Epson

There is no significant difference in brightness and based on my experience, 5200 is bright enough but in the area of contrast 6100 surely is a winner. You will see clear 'blacks' instead of 'grey' but the price differential is significant.

If budget was not a constraint, I would have gone for 6100 but for a 'wow' experience, 5200 is no less :)

Hope it helps.
