Error while payment on amazon.co.uk via Debit card

Hello

I am trying to make a purchase on amazon.co.uk via hdfc bank debit card. I have entered the details and this is the error I get via email-

"Your credit card payment for the above transaction could not be completed.
A card provider will often decline an attempt to charge a payment card if the name, expiry date, or postcode you entered at Amazon.co.uk does not exactly match their information."

I am pretty sure that the information is correct. Cant payments be made via debit card? Is there something I am missing?

Also there might be an issue that the product is not available right now on amazon and the page doesnt redirect to the verified by visa page.

No update? I believe many persons here would have bought from Amazon uk before and must be having an idea on how to make the payment.

I have only 3 days left otherwise the order would be cancelled.

Finally able to make the payment via Axis bank debit card. Since amazon doesnt ask for cvv or the verified by visa page payment request to hdfc bank debit card were being declined.
