Good morning freineds,
last week i finished my JBL100T3 cabinet.tested full week, very very happy with the sound:yahoo::yahoo:.
now its time to finish the cabinets from RAW mdf.
my initial plans were to veneer them.but two days back i visited a shop for some stationary and found a black ash vinyl sheet.its excellent quality and made in Germany sheet coming to 2mts length and 1mt width.
i purchase 03nos of black ash and one wood color sheet.
the sheets are having good thickness and high adhesion.
tested on spare mdf sheet, its look very nice. so project started.
please note that surface preparation is a absolute must.i done by little sanding and vacuuming.
luckily got plenty of holidays because of EID festival.its the right time for the project.
I also finished the plinths for the speakers from 18mm mdf sheets with rubber bushes at down side and threaded inserts on the top.
the speaker rests on the 04 Allen bolt heads.
those bolts are adjustable ,so flatness is not a problem.i use T-nuts for holding the bolts.
regarding vinyling you need one helping hand for better adhesion.
used a sharp knife to cut the edges.
JBL badges was removed from old speakers and placed on the new cabinets.
finally they look nice for my eyes.:)
next project would be the grills.
wish me all the best for my next project:)

They look superb!!! Well done. :clapping:

Please don't cover that beautiful baffle with a full length/width grille.

Edit: Love that simple plinth too.
I was searching for this product and look what I found here. Scroll down and look at the bottom left image. :D

One Word Sir.. Stunning. Great effort from your side,It shows how much love you have for the JBL's :) and spending time on them to make a Out of Box Look.

Thanks for giving the Step By Step Photos too.The Total Set-up look splendid ,Yamaha's should drive the JBL crazy.Your Coloring sense also brilliant Especially Blue Matt.BTW where is the Legend Sansui's on the Rack?

thanks a lot for your comments:D.yes i love those JBL very much.its the speaker that shows me what a good speakers can do,even it is a vintage ,the sound is fantastic.
i changed a lot of speakers in last 5-6 years.the journey starts from basic models like
wharfedale diamond9.6,jamo c407 YAMAHA NS1000M,CANTON VENTO890DC($5000 club) and lastly focal 836V(approx $4000),but nothing gives me the sound what i need.
the moment i heard these jbls i found this is the right speaker for me.hence showing all the love.
actually i had 02nos sansui au 717 ,one was lovingly purchased by my friend from me.the other is in india, need to get it here in next annual leave.till that day i have to enjoy with onkyo TXNR906 as a pre and yamaha mx1 as a powe amp.

Why you giving credit to JBL for your beautiful creation.
Nice work. And nice setup, Is that an Onkyo TX SR 805 in silver ? I have one of those too - in DTS bombed condition, and somehow my HDMI board wont accept the patch.
Also your room colors do fit the wood better, but your gear is black, which is why I guess you decided to front it in wood but all the other faces are black.
Now the JBL makes that sunfire sub is it ? you have look tiny in the corner. Do you even need a sub ?

Cool.
Srinath.

thanks for your comments.
its onkyo TX NR906.this model had some magic in the DAC section.i always likes its sound better than other amps.i am using this as a preamplifier.powe amp was yamaha MX1.
the onkyo is wellknown for HDMI board failure due to heat generated from HDMI board.
to overcome this issue i placed TWO sensors near the BGM chip and placed 04 fans for cooling the hdmi bords. now the temp never crossing over 35-40 degress.you can see the sensors in my post.
sunfire sub was made by sunfire corp..
now there is no need to use the sub, the bass is enough.just lying at the corner.

Great job, what a professional job!!

Can you share the URL to the initial part of the build, if you've documented it? I missed that somehow.

hi.its in the same section.speakers, named my jbl 100t cabinet build

Cabinet looks excellent and am sure sounds as good too.

What is the approx cost of the sheet? You found it in a stationery store?

hi, for 18mm wood along with cutting the carpenter charged me 50 OMR(approxINR7600).This is Malaysian mdf of better quality.

The rates charged by carpenters in Oman are cheaper than in India [at least in Mumbai]!!! In India they are pricey.

BTW, I think [from the reference to the stationery store] quad is asking about the vinyl sheet and not about the MDF.

I recently bought some black ash sheet too for my speakers but shelved the project because there was virtually very little adhesion. The guy who sold me the sheet cut it out of a huge roll. Did I just get a raw deal. I think the roll was very old. When I had bought sheets decades ago from Germany they were just as sticky for many years.

Yes, I was referring to the vinyl sheet. and I missed that the OP
is not in India...I was wondering how I never came across this kind of
sheet.
