I have read a lot about flash mobs - and I recently witnessed one in Gurgaon. A few weeks back, I was hanging around in the Ambience Mall, when some people started dancing - all in sync - and more started joining them. here is what wiki says regarding flash mobs....
"The term, coined in 2003, is generally not applied to events and performances organized for the purposes of politics (such as protests), commercial advertisement, publicity stunts that involve public relation firms, or paid professionals. In these cases of a planned purpose for the social activity in question, the term smart mobs is often applied instead."

I saw LG flash mob link it was superb. Nowadays, flash mob criteria are totally change because it become a kind of activity where unexpected people are assemble in a predetermined location to perform action and suddenly disperse.

I think organizing a flash mob activity has become a integral part of brand promotion these days. While not disagreeing with the essence of what moktan is saying, you cannot dismiss a 'flash mob' because a company orgainzed it. If you dig deeplly you will find that it was for a noble cause of helping a couple in love and it was the guy who initiated it.
