The Mezzmo DLNA software could be stressing your laptop due to the load of transcoding(if required) and streaming video to your TV. If you are on Windows 7, to see what is being stressed (CPU/RAM/HDD/Network) use the builtin Resource Monitor when running Mezzmo. If on Windows XP, download Process Explorer or Process Monitor to get the same information. If it is RAM or HDD you can consider an upgrade to these components. If CPU, new laptop. If network and already on wired, then try a different card(USB) if possible, but I wouldn't have much hope on that solving the network problem.

I have also noticed posts on avsforums that Windows Media Server is able to stream via DLNA to the HX850, perhaps you can try that and see if it loads your laptop less. Homestream doesn't slow my rather ancient Core2 PC down to the point that it is noticeable. I haven't tried either of Mezzmo or Windows Media Server, but did not have any problems with Plex Media Server or Homestream .

I too have noticed that volume is quite low (40 to 50 but depends on the source) when streamed via Homestream whereas the same video when played via USB does not have to be turned up so high. I have not found a solution as yet other than turning up the volume or using headphones/amplified speakers/AVR. Playing with the HX850's sound options (front firing, rear firing, surround on/off) sometimes makes a bit of difference but not too much.

I haven't used homestream since I moved to win8..will post reply as soon I get a spare lan cable.

Hi

I have been using EX650 for few weeks now...nice TV...the HD channels looks awesome...even SD looks good...
But I would like to know if there are any special settings or better settings ( than default ) while watching movies on HD or through USB...I tried "Vivid" but it looks too bright ( too white ) while "Standard" adds a black shade in the overall picture...

Pls let me know what other settings are useful here...Thanks.

I am not able to convert 3D files using TSmuxer. I presume it does not have the support since it is an old software. Can anyone suggest some different software?

Friends...

I am facing another issue. When I connect my laptop to EX 650 thru HDMI cable, and play some movie, the audio comes out of laptop and not from the TV. So obviously it is not much audible...is it normal ? how to correct this problem ?

pls help..thanks.

change your audio output source to hdmi.
btw, which graphics card you are having in your laptop? not all are capable of transmitting audio through hdmo.

I need to chk the card in my laptop...
btw how to change the output source to HDMI ?

Thanks.

is there any way to convert mkv movie to full screen mode movie through mkvmerge and tsmuxer (the black strips up and down, is it wide screen or cinemascope I don't know what it is called) I am converting movies through TOTAL VIDEO CONVERTER (TVC) but it makes file big and the video quality is also low not as good as original, now when I play the movie converted with total video converter after half movie it appears on the screen "playback not available". I only use TVC software for the full screen mode but the quality and the playback problem is irritating me. if I can get the full screen mode through mkvmerge or any other software please help.
thank you.

There should be a option to select wide mode option and you should select zoom mode which will get rid of the black bar..

there is no wide mode option, instead it has stretchby & cropping, in mkvmerge (format specific option) but there is no value to select. can you tell if this can work & what values should I enter to get fullscreen mode.
thank you.:clapping:

Hi mate, I gave this a go and the extracted .ac3 file is about 50% lower in volume, is there a way to stop this from happening?

Cheers

In the option tab of HD stream extractor enter +5dB and then try to extract it..but it may result clipping depending upon the normalize gain though..but at least a try.

Still getting "Playback not supported"

Can you do this-- just add this file in mkvmerge then go to Global tab and in split mode select split after time codes and type 30s.
Mux it you will get 30secs videos of size less than 50mb..just upload it and send me the link in PM.
I will check it.

Not sure if you guys know this, Sony have officialy released a DLNA streaming software - Homestream for Sony tv's (& might work on other TVs too) which works for all kinds of formats (DRM-free) and is built on the Serviio platform.

Homestream info here: Sony Homestream
Windows Setup: http://homestreamdownload.sony-europe.com/homestream-1.0-win-setup.exe
Mac Setup: http://homestreamdownload.sony-europe.com/homestream-1.0-osx.tar.gz
QuickStart Guide: http://campaign.odw.sony-europe.com/cross/H295/Homestream_Quickstart_Guide.pdf

I have been using this for about a week now (since I got my brand new Sony BRAVIA 40HX850 TV ) and works very good for me on Wi-Fi.
This works for me since I have a rig which is on 24/7. It has very simple interface for sharing and decoding options.

Sony home stream is great even for mkv :yahoo: , thanks for suggestion :)
