I don't see any problems with the codec but I have two questions-
1.what is the model of your sony tv?
2.what is the error message you are getting while playing the file..is it not at all recognizing the file/no audio/no video/showing file format unsupported/showing file is corrupt?

1. Sony Bravia KDL-40V55xx.
2. It recognizing the file but I give the message: "Playback is not available".

I have looked through the online manual for you tv model and it only supports .mpg(mpeg1 codec)extension video through usb...to playback mkv in the tv prerequisite is to have native support for .m2ts/.ts/.mts extension+mpeg4 part 10 codec support.
Your tv doesn't fulfill that condition.

If it is 2013 model and the audio is DTS HD MA then yes..and even if it's 2012 model and audio is Dolby THD you may need to extract the core AC3 part from it and you may playback it as well...it is because it has support for playing .m2ts extension along with x.264 codec and untouched BD has got the same extension .m2ts for the stream.

Thank you @lake1988 for your answer, but if I update the firmware still I will got the same problem, not possible to play mkv's!?
Although, I do not! :(

Buddy can you let me know if I can play Untouched Blu Ray on my TV model ,Samsung 46D6000
Amazon.com: Samsung UN46D6000 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV (Black) [2011 MODEL] (2011 Model): Electronics

Anybody knows if SONY KDL-40R471A can play mkv on usb please!? :what:
I want to buy one.
Thank you!

Not sure if anyone has this model here. You can take some MKV files in a flash drive and take them to store for demo. You'll know if they can or can't.

All 2013 sony models do support mkv playback...and this model as well..but do check at showroom with couple of mkv files.

Ok, but mkv's must be untouched or converted with this program?

Whether it works or no I would suggest you to convert it as the quality will be lost with an mvk as far as my personal experience is concerned. Sony supports mvk.

No just you need to check using Mediainfo if the format profile is not exceeding 4.1

Format profile : [email protected]

and muxing mode should not be header stripping.

Muxing mode : Header stripping..

If these specs are fine..you don't have to convert anything...

This method is for tvs which do not support .mkv but have support for .m2ts/.mts extensions.
