Good to see more people joining

My special invitation to all the guru's and mod's of Hifi vision

do we need to seek permission from HIfivison for this event, i dont know nothing about this process

also last time ARN systems sponcered gifts ... looking forward for such encouragement from all the HIFI systems dealers

" How about inviting some commercial dealers to sponsor the meet? If you guys agree, I can work in that direction"

Captain sir please do the honor

i see some of you already updated the spreadsheet, request you all to do the same.

Any suggestion on alternate venue ?

Tanoj,
AFAIK You do not need permission from HFV to hold the meet, but if you want to display the logo etc., like last time, it would be better to contact the supermod/mods for his/their blessings.
Regarding sponsorship, you will have to contact the dealers etc. and guage their interest level. Perhaps Capt. can have a word with Audiopeople as they have a showroom in Hyd., and see what can be done. Not too sure about other dealers in Hyd, Vectors, USK etc. If you pm me, I can give you contacts for both Vectors and Audio people. You can contact them and try.
In the event of a sponsored meet, I would recommend a hotel ballroom., etc. for a venue. There are too many to consider but you may have to do some spadework to find out one that will work. The venue last time was decent IMO, but if there are many systems on active display, I would recommend 2-3 rooms (last time we had 2), so that systems can be setup independent of each other to save time, rather than 1 main location - also acoustics of 1 large room will not work for book shelf setups.. Also whether the event is sponsored or not, do consider payment (amount will depend on sponsorship) which can be applied towards a meal and other incidental expenses - name tags etc. It will be very hard to have a decent show free of cost.
Cheers,
Sid

this is getting exciting! Bring it on!! :)
on another note, i dont have any gear, that i think, might be worthy of display.
If someone is interested, I am happy to bring the following:
Headphones: Grado SR80I
IEM: Etymotic HF5, Sound Magic PL50
PMP: Sansa Fuze running on Rockbox
USB DAC: HRT MS2
Teeny Weeny Basic AMP: Dayton Audion DTA1.

ofcourse if this event falls on a weekday, i wont be able to attend it.

Yes, thats the way to go. We wrote to all the dealers available in Chennai and got four of them to sponsor the Chennai meet.

Sure I'll work in that direction.

Yes but only if you have 8 to 12 participants per room at any point of time. Else it would be a waste of money and resources.
acoustics of 1 large room will not work for book shelf setups.
+1. Try to locate a hotel with at least two small banquet halls.

Spoke with Analogue Audio Labs and Audio People. Both are very keen to participate and also part sponsor the meet.

Equipment that would be displayed by Analogue Audio Labs.

VP-845 - 35 WPC Class A Single Ended Integrated amp based on 845 Tubes.
A-150 - 50WPC Class AB Push Pull Integrated amp based on KT88 Tubes.
A-101i - 18 WPC Hybrid Integrated amp with 6N1 tubes in pre stage and MOSFETs in the power stage.

Equipment that could be displayed by Audio People includes the following brands depending on the size of the venue and listening preferences of the members.

Pathos amplifiers
MBL amplifiers and speakers
Acapella speakers
Avalon speakers
Thiel speakers

They are keep to showcase Pathos. Organisers please PM your mail ids so that I can shoot off formals mails to the dealers keeping you in the loop. You guys can take it forward from there.

Organisers and Members can also post their preferences keeping the venue and listening preferences so that equipment can be finalised.

will speak with them and try to avail more time...

in case if this venue does not fit our need, then we should be prepared to contribute money they way we did last time.

Do consider power cut timings before finalizing Venue. Around Banjara hills area it's 7.30 am to 9a m and 1.30p.m to 3p.m.

Based on last year experience , I reccomend money contribution from FMs.
It's not just venue hiring charges alone . You need some money for basic things like water, displays, stationary and labor.

Now that we have at least two sponsors, contributions can be minimised. We can afford look for a venue with at least 2-3 halls.

@Tanoj, PM me your mail id and I'll put you in the loop.

I think the we should look for only Venues with Power back ups.
Yes definitely the participants have to contribute to the cost. Also some refreshments.

I agree, if there are sponsors - thanks to captains effort - then we definitely need to consider a hotel banquet hall. There will be decent acoustics, power back up and most important of all Air Conditioning. Yesterday it was 36C in Hyderabad and it is only going to increase in the next few weeks. And as I suggested earlier payment from participants will ensure some refreshments etc. However I will advise the organizers to ensure and confirm paying member first before committing to Hotel etc. - I believe we had a shortfall last time - which we (organizers) had to make up.
Cheers,
Sid

Hey guys, to begin with.. thanks a lot Capn for getting the sponsors. I am glad to see some promising progress..:)

organizers, fm's can meet up in short group to decide/check venue locations. and yes contribution will help it make better. the last meet went successfully thanks to the folks who managed all the stuff. now that we plan for a bigger gathering this time and more people joining along with organizers we certainly will have to do a better job..

work can be divided and assigned to folks...

tanoj... make up a list of things/work that needs to be prepared
and we can divide the work accordingly and make this meet a grand success..
after all this time as the dealers are ready to showcase stuff i assume it will
mark a step for the audio scene in HYD...

bring it on ..:):)

Guys, rud3dawg called me this morning asking about The Grand Solitaire Hotel here in Park Lane, Secunderabad. I am not going to be available but will certainly put in a word for a good deal if organizers are willing to look up this side of town for a venue. There are 2-3 decent sized meeting rooms on the first floor which can be setup nicely for a HiFi meet.

Vallet parking, 24 hr coffee shop and a decent bar is available on premises for those looking to cool off after the day's proceedings.

Do let me know if there is an interest in this location as a venue. Dates fill up fast sometimes.

Nikhil, this sounds like a great venue. Will sync up with Tanoj ,Sarin , Aman and give a visit over the weekend.

Please pass the contacts to Sarin (rud3dawg). Will be great if you can join us as well

Sachin,

Here's the deal if you are interested in it:

2 medium sized meeting rooms + 1 board room
Morning tea + Non Veg Buffet Lunch + Afternoon Tea
Bottled water service at the meeting rooms.

Price Rs 500 per head for a 50 persons.

This is pretty much at cost for the hotel considering the food, meeting room lighting and electricity (genset power is expensive) and full service. Have asked them to block the floor for April 14th and 28th. Will have to confirm the dates eventually.
