Stuff looks good, but I don't see prices listed anywhere+ they appear to be China based, so how does one order? I was looking at Partsconnexion , Meniscus Audio and a couple of others from whom I have bought in the past. Getting stuffed shipped from the US or Canada is easier than from China, I think( though I could be wrong)

Getting from china thru ebay is not at all an issue, i had bought several items, some are having free international shipping also. Since the full amount is protected by eBay, you can claim for refund if it doesnt reach you in time.

I have a question here-while in the past I have bought or had gear which uses binding posts like this:

Connectors Binding Post, Gold Plated, Oversized

But this time I plan , since there are five sets to use something like this:

In my view the cables from the pre pro to the amp and the amp to speakers will be permanently connected and so it doesnt really matter too much if I don't use WBT or some esoteric brand for this application.

Any thoughts?

For my tube amp, I have used the gold RCAs and binding posts
from Apex Jr. I found to be fine, but I haven't ever seen any high end ones
to compare with.

I decided to get a sheet of metal, of suitable dimension,bent into 90 degrees at two ends, like a "U", to mount all my Hypex modules, hardware and transformers etc, like a "bread board" and then transfer all of this into a proper enclosure later. I have easy access to a sheet metal source where I can get this done at a good price. I have a choice of doing this either in mdf /plywood or sheet metal. Any thoughts, anyone?

My pick would be sheet metal owing to its EMI shielding properties. Unlike other class of audio amplifiers, the EMI caused by class-D amplifiers are quite large due to their high frequency switching. If you look at the topology, you'll understand that Class-D is very much a cousin of high frequency DC-DC converter designs.

instead of the metal sheet, itmight be a good idea to look for a suitable chassis; something like a small server or rackmount case( since this a 5 channel build.)

you could get custom panels done for the front and rear for the amp look.

Yhe sheet metal is a no cost/low cost precursor to the real enclsoure, and is meant to give me a better idea about the layout and dimensions. Server type enclosure is a good idea, I will plan that in the second stage. I know that the overall size is very compact- not more than about 18 inches wide, and about 3 inches high, and depth may be about 12 inches to 14 inches max.

I am in the final stages of the assembly of a 5 channel Hypex modules based power amp. While the power supply board, R Core, and mounting plate for the modules are all quite straightforward, what isnt so simple is the way I should mount the RCAs and the binding posts, which I picked up from PartsConnexion, Canada. Since there are 10 RCAs and 10 binding posts( 5 pairs per channel for input and ditto for speaker outputs), do I mount them in pairs one below the other( vertically) or do I do 5 pairs beside each other(horizontally)? Is there any specific advantage or disadvantage to either option?

The pairing is always done vertically. Look at the rear end of an AVR to understand the sequencing.

Ok so having measured everything out, I have decided that I will get a U shaped piece of 12 inches X 12 inches square, with two 5.25 inch piece( 3U) bent upwards, vertically on the front and rear. From an aesthetci pov, this will be narrower than the preamp processor which is about 15 inches wide.

A The base will have the following components:

1. The transformer-8 inch dia and 4 1/4 inch ht-500VA R Core.
2. The power supply board with capacitors, 9 inch long and 3 1/2 inches wide
3. Possibly the soft start module(this can also be housed on the inside of rear vertical)

B.The front piece will have the mounting plate-10 inches long and 3 inches wide, wht all five amp modules mounted on it, facing inwards. This will also act as a heatsink. In addition, it will have a switch and pilot, on the outside.

C. The rear vertical will have the IEC jack,a fuse ( maybe the soft start module, on the inside) the 5 RCAs and the 10 binding posts, all facing the outside. I checked my Onkyo receiver which has 5 binding posts and note that the height is also about 5 inches

I will see if there are any links that I can show indicatinbg how some other builders have approached this.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

This one uses the 400watts module which needs a heat sink, which mine doesnt.
