No, it will not work. Came to know that digi+ has its own low jitter clock and works as a master discarding pi clock.
The newer version digi+ pro comes with dual clocks for multiples of 44.1 and 48.

I have not done it, based on the response from JackofAll (Allo KALI Reclocker & Raspberry Pi DACs running as Slave or Master?) It may work with some patches (changing the /boot/config.txt parameters for the driver) and powering the DAC separately. Kali may not the power the Digi.

I don't have 3.3 power supply so can't try that initiated return.

For whatever reason if the Kali relocker did not work , one can try the W4s remedy

It takes the digital signal (coaxial or optical) from any device, reclocks it with its own clock and up or downsamples it to 24/96 bitrate with its own resampling chip

Suppose to reduce jitter by quiet a margin.
Infact you can use it on a squeezebox touch, old dvd player , airport express and turn it into a very good streamer

Yes , very much
Infact any ordinary streamer like airport express having a digital out can be made a into a reasonable good one
Maybe say equivalent to one costing about usd 1500
