Preamp for TT or Integrated Amp???

For the kind of turntable and speakers you have in mind, I do not think the separate phone preamp is going to add much value. The 7001 is a good amplifier and has given attention to the inbuilt phono stage. This is an example of a good Marantz budget design, where minimal compromises have been made in audio quality. The 7001 also has a dedicated CD input, which the manual claims has a better input buffer stage, to handle the impedance and voltage levels from standard CD player outputs. I presume similar attention has been given to their phono as well. I heard an old Kenwood TT being played through the 7001 phono input and WH 9.5 at a friend's place, and it sounded musical and fluid.
