Hello All

Recently tried ripping "Transformers - age of extinction" BD (having Dolby Atmos audio stream) using MakeMKV (latest version 1.9.2). Selected Dolby TrueHD stream while extraction.

However my Oppo 105, when playing the MKV shows audio stream as MLP 7.1 and not Dolby TrueHD. The same when passed thru HDMI, my Onkyo AVR (TxNR 727) recognises this as Dolby PLII and there is no audio :( But normal DD 5.1 stream works fine.

Playing the BD directly, the Oppo and AVR recognises audio stream perfectly as Dolby TrueHD and plays well.

Checked on MakeMKV fora and looks like others too faced similar situation but the last post mentioned Dolby TrueHD being extractable but not sure if is was successful.

Pl let me know if any of you have successfully extracted Dolby TrueHD from any Dolby Atmos BD and could play well using either MakeMKV or other tools.

Here is the link for the conversation on MakeMKV forum:

Wow - thread is alive after almost 2months :)

I almost stopped checking for replies after few days when there were only views but no replies - thought nobody tried this yet! :)

Thanks sakthivel159 and Sanjay for your replies.

sakthivel159: Isn't AC3 lossy? As mentioned am able to get DD 5.1 even now.

Sanjay: thanks for the pointer. Yes, agree about Dolby THD using MLP algorithm. Though my Oppo 105 identifies it as MLP there is no audio :(

Pl do let me know if anyone faced similar situation and could successfully extract lossless Dolby THD audio.
