Best DAC under 1 lakh.
It should also have a volume control.( Preferably with remote control)
Don't mind buying a used one.
Use- mainly movies .. Occasionally music
Not interested in AVR at present.

Assuming the 2.1 is the Genelec (mentioned in your signature).
What connectivity options on these?

Cheers,
Raghu

Will its sound quality be close to a dedicated DAC ?
Movie soundtracks have different encodings like Dolby,DTS and what not with surround sound information, Something that stereo DAC's are not designed to handle. Also have HDMI inputs and room correction software's.

Why not a receiver when your primary content is going to be movies? A DAC is a stereo device, are all your movie content only 2 channel?

Sorry, if I am missing your logic here.

Let's see what you need technically..
1. XLR outputs
2. Hdmi decoder
3. Proper downmixing of multiple channels to 2.1
4. Preamp +DAC with Remote volume control.
5. Preferably Digital room correction

--Cheapest option is an AVR with front preouts ~60k (either rca or XLR if available).
It'll give you an option to add passive speakers in case you successfully sell your active Genelac setup.

--Best option is an AV processor like this one with Dirac live..

If you could get a used one around 1L it'd be great, buying a new one also makes sense, because it can be carried to USA (it has switch to toggle voltage compatibility). Other options are to go for other AV processor like Marantz or pro ones if you don't want an AVR.

Actually I don't want to compromise on sound quality by buying an AVR.
And reliability? Longevity.
DAC s last long.
AVR tech changes so frequently. And resale value is low.
I might start listening music if I get a good DAC.

I'm scared of getting a 5.1 coz I don't know when I will get bored of my system and feel like changing it.
Selling a 5 channel system is even more difficult.

Prateek,

Your requirement is slightly indistinct for us. DAC is specially designed for stereo and for movie better to stay with any AV processor with poweramp / better AVR like Anthem or Arcam.

You have also listed your existing actives on sale. Also, it seems you like simplicity.
If the sale materializes, consider all-in-one like KEF LS50W or KEF LSX.
They will sing well and work out for TV without much fuss.

What you are thinking, Prateek, may be correct approach for you and with that you may want to spend on a reasonable AV processor and a good DAC that you will run through AUX input.

As for under 1L DAC, I would strongly recommend used market because you will have tons of option within your range. You might want to consider one of the followings.

1. Benchmark
2. Crane Song Solaris
3. Apogee Symphony
4. Dangerous Convert 2
5. Prism Sound Callia
6. Violectric

This list is based on whatever I know about. I know I have sent you couple of PMs that you have not responded :( ..just kidding.

I would again recommend something from used market, find someone in USA who can bring it for you. Trust me that this is the best way of using your money wisely.

Ls50w doesn't have power to my liking.
I'm considering qsc SC 1120 if i sell genelecs.

Alright I get you. So multi channel does not excite you. You need great Stereo 2.1 sound. I am assuming your current speakers are great and self powered/amplified. Schiit GUNGNIR MULTIBIT fits that bill perfectly, doesn't it?

Actually I want to EQ the system for a flat response, specially below 100hz and at the same time want the sound quality of a DAC.
Frequency response required is 20-20000hz.
Below 20hz would be sweeter ;)
