Got Maachis and Kal Ho Na Ho from Flipkart.
Maachis : I would say probably the best pressing of Hindi LP I ever owned. 180 gms, made in Germany. You could feel the music. Absolutely loved it....specially Pani Paani ree...was a whole new experience !!!
Kal Ho Na Ho : Now this was a whole different story. Even though this was a SONY LP, it was badly warped ..!! My earlier Sony LP's were all great. I noticed that FLIPKART is being cheap on Packaging LP's. Or just that guys who pack the LP's dont have any clue about it. The cover was all folded due to tightly packing. and I believe this is what caused the LP to warp. Will be sending it back.

Even my copy of Kal ho naa ho delivered by Flipkart was badly warped. The needle was skipping every time encoutering the warped section on the first track of both sides. I would have returned it too but by then I had put my singnature on the cover ( I do this to all my CDs/cassettes/LPs):sad:
I had no option but to keep it under heavy books for a week's time. Came out a little better. My philips still skips grooves on it but Technics handles it better. Its still warped.
About the pressing, I have heard praises of Maachis pressing. Must be good with so many testimonials now. About kal ho naa ho pressing, IMO, its too bass heavy mastering could have done better with lows slightly rolled off.
Please share your experience on this too.

BTW, any new hindi LPs in the market?

I have played some badly warped vinyl on my earlier Technics SLBD20B with a straight arm and Audio Technica AT92ECD p-mount cart and they would go skippity-skip, skippity-skip. Played them on my Technics SL3200 with its standard Technics Cart, the skipping was much less, tracking at 1.5gms, moved to Shure M44-7 and tracking at 1.5 gms (antiskate at 1.5 gms), no skipping what so ever. The Technics S-Arm and the M44-7 is a deadly combo for playing old vinyl.

Hi all,

From my personal experience Shure M97xE MM cartridge plays any warped record with least skipping, that too at a tracking weight of just 1.25 gm(which is recommended by the manufacturer).

Even I have the Maachis LP which I had bought online. I have to agree that the SQ is very good on all songs except 'Chappa Chappa' which sounds as if it was recorded straight from an MP3 source....no depth at all. I found it strange considering all other songs sound fantastic. Is it just in my LP ?

Hi,

I had ordered The finest moments of Kishore Kumar from Infibeam got deliverey yesterday late evening.

The packaging is good & secured just like Flipkart.

Heard the LP and it sounds excellent very close to analogue sound.
The centre label printed on LP is simple and nice, has a retro feel.

Over all Universal has done a good job unlike RPG whose LPs sound more like digital.

I would say guys go for it.
