Hyderabad HFV meet ? Interest check

Hello Hyd team: About 24 Hrs to go, hope all is going good.

Could anyone pls check with SBT Corporation and see if they can be made to sponsor something? This is one of those lesser known HT shop in Hyd. I'd rather request the members who have already done the talking do the talk.

Hi Sameer,

I spoke to Pandu and he reminded me of a tweeter damage on one of his Paradigm S4 speakers. A replacement tweeter has to be fixed which will take some time. He said he'll update me on this later this evening. I am sure he'll be joining us tomorrow.

Hello guys. Just bid adieu to HFM meet participants after a day long auditioning of different components/combinations and had a blast of a time. Once again thank you guys, specially to Sameer, Sridhar & Sachin. Cheers guys

Dont remember any of teh modelnames pardon me for that. You guys can add it.

We set up the systems in 2 different rooms the bigger room had the Ushers and Jamo floor standers while the smaller room had the b&W, paradigms, Polk audio and PSB speakers.

The First audition PSB's sounded awesome for their size. The speakers hardly weighed anything but filled the room with sound very well.

Next up was Usher Diamond audition with Belcanto pre and power with source as Ayon Cd. This system too was good. But we felt there was some set up problem. May be room too was the culprit because it too large of a room of the size not sure what was its size.

Third audition was the Jamos. It was tested with two different sources. I didnt listen to it much i will leave it for some body else to comment.

Fourth Audition was B&W 805N with Belcanto pre and Power and Ayon cd player. I felt this one sounded very good with very laid back sound. I guess Most of the listeners concur with my views here.

fifth audition was Paradigm s4 with Belcanto per and power and Ayon cd player. I would rate B&W 805 N and S4 picked up the top two places in the today's auditioning.

Later we also tested Paradigm s4s with Rotel integrated and squeezebox. The sound was little hollow and highs were little harsh. We replaced the squeezebox with Music Hall cd player. Suddenly the sound opened up.
I get a feeling that the problem was with the source(hotel California flac) in the squeezebox. I would like to test hotel california CD in my system again borrowing from Blasto. I dont think we can pass judgement on squeezebox yet.

Also we tested the Polk audio RTI A1 with Norge concerto and music hall cd player. I could not rate this system very high. I would say it would be a beginners system.

I would say B&W 805 and Paradigm S4 came winners in the speakers dept. I would say PSB was surprising for such a small speaker to perform so well.

In the amplification dept Definately Bel canto there at the top though we did not do comparison with other AMPS.

CD players music hall and AYON did not do much of the comparison so cannot comment.

Remember these comments are based on my listening impressions only. As you know in a audio chain there are so many components cables, power system, inter connects and more importantly Room apart from speakers.

Cant make any conclusions here but these are just impresssions.

Finally special thanks to Sachin, Sameer and Sidvee to make it happen. Also thanks to all the folks who attended. Special thanks to Prakash who drove all the way from Karimnagar(160Km) to attend the meet.
