Hyderabad HFV meet ? Interest check

I am also very much interested to join. Updated the excel.
But I may not be available on 11th. 18 & other dates are ok for me.

I can bring Caiman, Squeezebox Touch & Quad 11L2 speakers with me.

Great ! We have more folks joining and already see systems that i would love to listen to :)

I will update on venue options this weekend, however please suggest if you know of some place.

Let me know how to update the excel.
Only thing I bring useful is the Go Flex Home NAS , if somebody want to experiment with DLNA. But will need a network connection.

I have identified a reasonably good place called ' Spice Court' at Himayath Nagar.

Its approximately 2000 Sft.Air-conditioned L shaped Hall with complete carpet, wall panel & good ceiling. It has generator back up.

Hall Charges are Rs 10,000 for 6 Hours (10 a.m to 4.00 p.m).

We need to have accurate number of participants to confirm the place and registration procedure.

May be I can check Jubilee hills club. They have separate halls to be rented for birthday parties and all. We can use one of them. I am sure they will not have airconditioning but I can check if the room has the generator connected to it. About Spice court I feel Rs 10000 is on the expensive side.

They dont cost more than Rs 1000.

Let me know if you guys are intrested.

Thanks
pandu

IMO the the hall acoustics have to be reasonable for decent sound - if that is the primary purpose. If it is a static display of equipment then it does not matter. I have seen the Jubilee Hills club halls and they are not very suitable for listening purpose. Regardless, I guess it is the comfort level of the participants that matters. Also reading the Mumbai meet thread, I am of the opinion that there needs to be an entry fee, so that the serious participants will attend. Question is what should be the fee? Suggest members chip in what is comfortable to them, and that in turn will decide what hall charges are affordable. I am fine with Rs 500 (I think Mumbai people are at 700).
Cheers,
Sid

I have checked good number of places like school & college auditoriums but none of them have generator back up.Most of the well furnished Banquet & conference halls are not willing to offer their places without food Order.

Jubilee Hills Club Halls have Generator back up but they may not be suitable for HiFi meet because of echo issue.

There are plenty of bare halls available @ nominal cost but we need to hire everything like chairs, carpet, side cloth walls ,Fans and Generator.

Search is on for a well furnished low cost banquet hall ..........

@Sameer and Pandu Thank you for the efforts guys. IMHO, bare halls @ nominal cost with hiring of carpets, chairs and side walls may be more cost effective. Of course, I'm only guesstimating; you are the guys on field so you may know better.

I am in too. I can get Nordost wyrewizard's OEM cable with wbt silver ICs, SBT with 2TB HDD and Rotel RA06 Amp. I really want to test this chain on a good pair of stereo speakers.

cheers!!

I agree with you Rajesh.Due to power cut,Generator option is the most critical one in over all costs. Hired generators are available for Rs 500/Hour without the fuel costs.

Clubs ,community halls are not allowing outside regular materials like chairs and carpets.

Planning to seek the help of companies like Armstrong,Saint Goban etc

Thanks Sameer & Pandu. I will check some places around hitech city and surrounding today.

By the way the good thing about the power outage is that timings are mostly fixed. At my place electricity goes out between 10am to 12pm and then 3 pm to 5pm. So we can atleast plan around these times... get out for lunch etc. But yes power backup would be good.

Agree with Sid Need a Fee for the event. I guess Rs 500 is fine provided the Hall charge is less than the Rs 10000 which sameer put in. I am not sure how many are in. We need at least 20 to go ahead with the event.

Secondly, Most halls have bare walls.

Anyidea of the dimensions of the halls we are looking for.

Thanks
Pandu

Please see attached from the Mumbai meet thread (Denom - I hope you don't mind if I borrow your pics:)), for their proposed hall. IMO something like this will work very well, wherein the equipment can be set up along the wall where the screen is and people can sit auditorium style facing the equipment. A rectangular hall is what I am suggesting. If the hall has a podium, even better. Though one concern for this type of an arrangement, BS & small speakers will have to be arranged towards one side with more nearfield listeners.
Cheers,
Sid

Banquets & Meetings
I have attended some meetings in the above hall (2 one - the senate). This type of hall should work well. Not sure of the price though? Anyways - just my thoughts guys - not suggesting that only these will work. I'm sure there will be many other options.
Cheers,
Sid

I too agree with Pandu and sid regarding fee for the event.
@Pandu. Owner of 'Spice court' is a close family member of mine and I have persuaded him to agree to offer only hall without food for Rs 10k. Let us keep it as back up option and scout for better places at low cost.

There are few more options
Hotel Kens Srinagar Colony .150 members capacity Air-conditioned hall with wooden floor, curtain walls & Generator back up.

Hotel Tanisha at Ameerpet With similar features.

Similar tariff 10k only for the Hall.
