Listening impressions to bhagwan's set up - part II [July, 2014]

Thanks for your visit;
It was nice to meet you.

I replaced a Speaker Cable @ Home;

It was a wonderful experience for me too friend.
The last piece, an western classical piece at your place was like sitting almost next to the conductor. I, in my lifetime so far, haven't listen to a live orchestra except some in some choir and instrument in church.

But I, that time wished the real one should be something like this.

The system worked as one, yes. Plus, the bass, never it was commanding, just was subtle and fulfilling.

Meeting Joshua at your place was a bonus.

I hope to meet you again either at your or my position.

Hello again from Melbourne, Australia. Has any one tried a mains regenerator with the AM- 833S monoblocks? I'm itching to hear the difference, if any, as my mains AC is very distorted. Also, does anyone know anything about the Dussun X1600 mains regenerator? Regards, David.

Bhagwan do I see a speaker upgrade?

Sir,
I still have my Tidal's
However a 'guest' has dropped by.
Artos Audio - Germany.
Rainbow Cell.
All T & P Cell Transducers.
3 X 8 Inch Cell Woofers
1 X 5 inch Cell Midrange
1 X 1 inch Cell Tweeter
I am unable to post pics from home.
Will do so on Monday from Office.

The Concept With the new RAINBOW CELL

ARTOS AUDIO created a great speaker system using an intelligent 6dB crossover design that offer high efficiency combined with perfect phase linearity and very linear impedance behavior.

Listening rooms of 20m and a high-quality amplifier with just 20 Watt output power per channel will allow the Rainbow its full potential.
The Cabinet The cabinets of the RAINBOW CELL are handcrafted by skilled carpenters using our multilayer construction.
The Airflow construction, numerous internal braces and the lute-shaped design minimize the vibrations of the enclosure to an absolute minimum.

The CELL-Concept Tweeter and the CELL-Concept Midrange are housed in their own chambers to further improve the soundstage and imaging.

The precious and elegant look of the high-gloss real wood veneers confirms the status as an exclusive ARTOS AUDIO loudspeaker.

Inside The RAINBOW CELL is the first ARTOS AUDIO speaker system using Accuton CELL-CONCEPT drivers throughout the entire frequency range.

The advantages of the CELL-CONCEPT are: - Same acoustic center for tweeters, midranges and woofers for time coherency in a flat front - Perfect signal settle and piston behavior of the dome even close to the dome resonance - Very low distortion - in the magnitude of electronic devices - even at high power levels Crystal clear highs are obtained by a 30mm ceramic tweeter; optional a 30mm Black-Diamond Tweeter is available.

The 5 CELL-CONCEPT midrange driver is used over a very large frequency range from 300Hz up to 2.800Hz. Three 8 aluminum/ceramic woofers deliver a clean, tight and very deep bass.

Extended-Version As an option, the RAINBOW CELL EXTENDED demonstrates our passion for music and our permanent ambition to turn a perfect speaker system to another level. The external crossover allows us to forget the limited space available inside the RAINBOW CELL.
Not only better parts made by Mundorf and Duelund find their place in these crossovers, there are NO vibrations from the drivers taking impact on the individual parts. In addition, biwiring, tri-wiring, bi-amping and tri-amping are possible.

Sir, why not try out a full range driver design

Sure;
I am 100 % open to the idea.
If you would be so kind so as to suggest & option & a place to listen / demo it - I would truly appreciate it.
To be absolutely blunt in all my years in Audio / Travel [for audio] I have not come across a Stand Mount speaker that sounds better than my TAD [Tidal Amea Diacera] & this Artos Audio Rainbow Cell is just for Trial / Demo on loan from the Indian D & D - Therefore if you can point me towards a 'better' sounding loudspeaker - I would be most thankful.
I too am always looking for options & alternatives.
Anything to improve the performance of music in my house.
I look forward to an input from your end....

BTW have you heard Tidal Speakers ? Or Artos Audio either / ever / anywhere ?
Would truly appreciate your kind inputs...

I am planning one portable 4" full range driver TL design 6 months down the line. May be we can plan one listen session mid next year just for fun.

I have never had the privilege to own or listen for long durations to uber high end setups like yours except during auditions or demos in showrooms.

However I am a sucker for active setups. Both my home and car audio run active setups, 4-way in car and 3-way at home.
But my small listening environment has no treatment so I live with room reflections and some bumps in the lows.
In my limited audio journey the biggest hurdle has been the xover which is even more challenging for a DIY guy like me. Active setups allows me a wide range of xo optios to choose from and I find it sonically better then passive xos.
In that way, I have always been keen on the single driver solution albeit probably using two subs, one for each channel. No xo complications, phase issues, overlap or the such.
But again will that driver be capable of a reasonably good bandwidth without peaks and beaming is another issue.

However most single driver solutions are very expensive, but off late I have been attracted to the Dayton PS220 point source driver as its pricing is within my scope.

For your setup I would suggest you to look at Feastrix, Decware or Enviee....since you travel abroad often, maybe you can audition one of these.

@ Kannan.

Active has always been an option for diy who are not skilled enough to design a passive XO. That does not mean that all active XO are better than passive. A well designed passive XO can match or exceed any active XO design which is poorly built. Its just not the XO frequency but many other parameters that too matter in an active design too. The only advantage imho in an active design with digital ones is the flexibility of use. But again for a designer like me i always have decided 90% of the design even before buying anything.

Hari and Keith, I agree whole heartedly. I am not good in making passive xos and if id does not work, you have to start all over again with the components and board.
Active allows the flexibility to experiment without any further investment within the limits of the crossover.
Earlier I had implemented it in digital domain using JRiver with infinite real time options of frequency and slope, but now I am using a analogue 3-way active crossover with a wide frequency range but a fixed 24db L/R slope.

In car I use a 3-way active head unit (Eclipse CD7200mk11) which allows me to experiment with various LP/HP and bandpass options and slopes.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
