Nice and clean setup.....I cant see your sitting but i guess its behind the surround speakers. So only thing recommended to shift your surround behind your sitting.
Enjoy your new setup and give reviews if possible....

Thanks.. The place where we sit is right opposite to the TV.. Approx 10 Feet away from the TV...

thanks for posting..818 must be great..
recomended better ventilation of the onk and little tilt of the centre so that it hits your face..by simple say a hand towel/old T shirt method
great to know your wifes support towards your av gear....hehe...

Yes.. 818 is the best AVR i had so far... Very good for stereo...

Reg ventilation, the TV stand that you fin in the picture is a Cane furniture..... So Onkyo has plenty of space to breath....

Credit goes to my wife in keeping the gadgets shiny as ever..:clapping:

I am not sure if this topic has been discussed already. This is regarding the difference between the performance and sound quality of the latest Sonus 2501C vs Avant 250LCR. Looking at the specs, the drivers used are same for both the above systems. Only the cabinet is different. Again the new Sonus center gives a better freq response starting at 60Hz compared to Avant that start at 90Hz. If budget not a constraint, what is the most "compelling" reason to go for Avant 250LCR compared to Sonus 2501C?

I just wanted to get some opinions before I am waiting on the audition of Avant and Sonus :).

Thanks,
John.

I get a feel that Avant has a better crossover & cabinet construction than Sonus...

As i had said earlier, i had brought home the Avant LCR250 for 15 days time home demo..... So i swapped my Sonus C2401 for Avant LCR 250....

The Avant LCR 250 was completely dominating the show... I tried to reduce the speaker settings in AVR, but even then Avant was distinctly ahead of Sonus in dialogue reproduction & even the minutest details....

I don't want to hype the product.... But Avant is compelling....

This is my experience @ home after having it for more than 15 days time....

Hi elangoas,

Thank you very much for the sharing your experience. I guess if you could you feel the difference in an home audition, that really shows how capable the speaker is. Any speaker will sound better in a dedicated and acoustically treated room. But thing changes when you install them in your room :).

I just wanted to check if the bass / mid bass response from Avant was better than Sonus though the Avant starts to roll off earlier than Sonus in the low range according to the specs. I mean in terms of the "weight" in the male voice. I think I will get Avant if I choose Sonodyne.

Yes, thing will be different if the xover settings and xover components used are different even if they use the same drivers. I have asked Sonodyne regarding the differences and as I you pointed out, I guess it has more to do with the xover components and settings.

Thanks,
John.

Hi John,

i understand your question, but i couldn't clarify on the male voice as am technically no good on this :)

I was watching a 12 GB Blue ray rip of "The grey" movie... Sound track was DTS lossy full bitrate (1.5 Mbps)... The growl of the wolves through out the movie was so impressive, that it completely shook me off...

If you can get hold of the movie rip before your audition, you can experience it yourself...

Regards
Elango

Do you think Sonus rear dipoles match with Avant LCRs ? Or do you think I should go all Avant? I mean Avant bookshelves for rear surrounds ?

Nope... I think ALL Avant will be good choice...

Avant BS 150 will easily surpass the Sonus rear Dipoles...

If you get a chance to hear both the Sonus / Avant back to back in the same demo room, it will be very evident..

BTW when is your demo ?

It should happen next week. Eagerly waiting for their call. I think the guy who was supposed to setup the demo is off due to Ramzan. He will be back to the store tomorrow and he will call me after he sets it up.

Hi elangoas, I was planning to go for rear dipole speaker from sonodyne. Just wanted to understand whether these are safe to be wall mounted using the brackets which come with the speaker considering each of them is pretty heavy. Are you using any special mounting bracket.

i have not used any additional brackets for the speakers... Yes the surrounds are heavy.....

I just used the stock one... They are provisions on the back side of the speaker to hook it up on the wall with a bigger screw.. They sit nicely on the wall.....
