Western Digital WD TV HD Media Player - a HTPC replacement??

Hi,

ebay has offered me a gift voucher of 20% (max Rs1000). i may use it to buy WDTV which may cost me 6300 or so after redeeming the gift voucher.(retails around 7.5k here in chennai) I have never done any dealing with ebay. Any one bought anything using the gift voucher? How dependable is the deal with ebay? Any feedback is much appreciated

Wow 20%


Ebay is very good in honoring its agreements . however it is the seller whome you should be aware of . I always buy from seller who have a rep of 99.5%+.
 
20% god ...

I hardly get anything above 10%. ordered couple of mouse from there , still got only a 5% max rs 500 discount coupon in the mail today.

Yes, I have done this for my friend. It works. BUT even a slight skip on the DVD means the picture freezes with some green garbled images.

This problem was not there on Elektron (NMT) The picture continues after a very momentary split sec pause.

I had mentioned earlier in this thread.

can anybody elabborate the difference betwn the two versions of HDMI...

Do most AVR support 1.3?
I am asking becos WD TV is said to support only v1.2.. is this a limitation.. can it be ugraded by firmware..

HI,

Recently I bought a wd tv from ebay on bidding. got it for 5940 including shipping and 10% discount. Paisa pay protects your payments by paying the supplier only after you confirm receipt and acceptability of the products. So its a safe deal.

Pradeep u got a good deal, currently all sellers on ebay are selling it above 7.5k.
Which is expensive, guess one needs to keep a look out for deals on the same

got few questions about wd tv :

1) why does it not support DVD menus in movies stored iso/vob
Also, next chapter button also does not work.. we have to manually do fast forward... can't jump to next scene...

2) Why does'nt wd tv save settins when we exit.. for ex- i choos output display as 1080 24 p , when it restarts it starts in display - auto..

3)what is the best format to save dvd movies on hdd for full featuerd playback on wd tv?

Guys my Av Receiver has conked out it seems . My DVD player is connected through Digital Coax Inputs and the ED TV using Digital optical Imputs. While the Coax works fine , my AVR is refusing to detect the optical ins . I checked the cable and could see the red light. Tried reversing the optical cable but again no luck. I even tried connecting the optical ins to my lg dvd optical ins but again no sound. I guess it is either the amp or the cable . Since we cann see the red light in the cable then it has got to be the amp . Please help here. Sorry for the OT , but I am kinda desperate. :sad:

Nope it was not the receiver issue. It was a bad optical cable . Anyways got me for a new one for Rs 300 and I am all set !

I am thinking of buying some cables from UK and handing it to a frnd who may be coming in anytime next month. These are the cables which I propose to buy .

I am trying to get my hands on WD HD media player and was searching for that only on google and found this forum!!

I read in 1 post that Vinay had mentioned he got the player for 6.3k including B & W!! and another member kneo mentioned that some1 else on this forum got it for 6.4K !! Now that is some good price!! Hope some1 tell me where it is avaiable at this price! I will send the PM to Vinay and Kneo and hopefully they will respond!! :yahoo:


And I have to keep track of this thread also coz once I get the player I will have to configure it and would need help with the cables also about which I dnt have vast knowledge!!

But the best option (which I think Vinay opted for) is to go to Lamington road and start browsing the shops there. You'd get the same for around 6.5K. I myself got it for 7K as I wanted home delivery and did not have the time to go scouring for a cheaper price. I contacted the dealers of WD (Mediaman) directly.

If you are lucky to gert a 20% discount coupon then Ebay is the best place to buy :) ! :licklips:

The thing is that I live in north India and at best I can ask some person to buy it from Mumbai and ship it here!!

I have also sent a PM to vinay and if I can know the name of shop that would be great bcoz I can ask some friend/cousin etc to get it from here but they certainly wont hunt for cheapest shop there!! I am getting it for 7250/- here in my city with B & W but lets see If I am able to save a few bucks more by getting it from Mumbai!! :yahoo:

I have a 15% discount coupon of Western Digital but considering the hefty sum I will have to pay for shipping it would reach around same figure only!! Any idea how much would be the shipping for it from US to America?? My guess is around 35$ atleast if I get it from USPS!!
