AVR Pricelist

Though I am not an authority in this matter, let me put it this way. Biamping drives two pairs of wire from two different Amp source to feed the speaker (of course the speaker has to support biamping - two pairs of input). The Amp when set the right way drives the lower frequencies through the woofer and the higher frequencies through tweeter. If you put the single pair of wire the speaker itself do the separation of high and low freq. The difference here I guess, is the separation process done by Amp may be better than that of speakers doing it.

Now the difference in output between biamping and additional surrounds may be thin but you may get a better sound stage for additional surrounds, that's my guess. But biamp surely gives results according to many in this forum.

Guyz please correct me if I have said anything wrong :-)

What you said about 5.1 and 7.1 is correct. But make sure the quality of sound is same on both models. You can find other threads in which people agree or disagree on the sound quality similarity of both. Other than this I guess 1911 has a video upscaling which 1611 doesn't have. There should still be some more feature differences to distinctly place 1911 above 1611 as part of the product strategy but may not make much appealing to all.

Oh....thanks for the info :)!

As for upscaling, I dont think its that big a deal nowdays as people would anyways be playing content through their Bluray Players, HD-Settop box, PS3 or Media Players, all of which have the upscaling feature inbuilt :)! Heck, some LCD/LEDs themselves upscale these days :)!

I guess I would go in for a 5.1 at the moment. I would try and demo Heights and Wides at some place and if I find the difference to be huge, then il go in for 1911.....or maybe wait till 1912 releases :)!

I have decided (90% i.e.) to go for a Denon AVR over Onkyo, though the final decision would obviously be based on whether I wanna buy Elac speakers or Polk. I need to demo Polk, and if I like them more then Denon it is, though initially I was very keen to go in for Onkyo since it has so many extra input options, but after reading about the Heat issues, and the sound being better on Denon, the better Audeyssey calibration...I think Denon would be a better option :)!

If you are ready to wait you will be much happier with 2112, which has internet radio and price shouldn't be as steep as 2311.

i can wait for 6-7 months...as thats when I would be moving into my new house and would need to set the system up :)! Do you think xx12 would release by then?

In the midst of discussions on biamping and AVR price hikes, here's my 2 Rs.
I am still not ready to give up the idea of sourcing the AVR/ HTiB from US.

The search landed me into the world of refurbs ; sold by ac4l and shoponkyo as well. ac4l is cheaper than shoponkyo.

I then started the reviews of refurbished items and the re-sellers themselves. Everything was satisfactory.

On top of it, I have first hand experience with Refurbished SLRs myself. Ordered a D5000 and its immaculate. No one could deny its NOT a new piece. The only thing I didn't get was the original box in which it came originally. Mine was a plain white one.

I even got the nikon warranty.

Now coming back to AVRs, all Onkyo refurbs have a 1 year warranty as compared to the regular 2 yrs in US. That said, it is still US warranty only, so we can't get any support in India and buying it, would entail a risk for sure.

Now coming to the prices.

ICCworld has quoted these prices -

Onkyo 608 - 24619 Rs - inclusive of everything item cost, shipping, tax, duty etc
Onkyo 5300 - 35380 Rs - inclusive of everything item cost, shipping, tax, duty etc

S&S prices for 608 are around the same but for 5300/ 6300 its super expensive. Almost 200% more than the cost of the item.

But again, shipping is irrelevant wrt COST of the item. They go with weight, and for oversized items they go by volumentrics.

Mgdelhi was very correct in saying first 500 gms is 10$ and then every 500 grams, its 8$ extra.

what happened to this lovely thread....? :)

anyone know best pricing for Onkyo 1008, 3008 & 5008. I've been quoted Rs. 1,20,000 and Rs. 1,50,000 and Rs. 1,80,000

Anyone know of a better pricing than that ?

Enjoy the summers :)

Any one has the latest prices of 1311 ad 1611 in Bangalore? The prices I have heard in hifivision ranges from 17K to 20K and 1611 somewhere near 24K.

Hey!

Pro FX is offering the Denon 1611 AVR for Rs. 24,900/- and the Denon 1311 AVR for Rs. 18,900/-

Unique Sys ( Whitefield) is offering the Denon 1611 AVR for 24,000/-
