Jan 2013 Delhi/Gurgaon NCR Audiophile Meet

I can bring Some fusion and Santoor from Rahul Sharma if any one interested.

Thanks! Please bring it. I want to know about and buy some good Indian classical (Carnatic/Rabindra sangeet) CDs. I have a few, but the recording/mastering is poor. Want to have some stuff that will be pleasure to listen even on revealing system.

Alright here we go. Made a gear and time chart for the meet.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuB22hYGtdVxdDJMcDQwZzRpQkZvaVE2T1Z2UGdEQ2c

I've tried to do justice to all our individual gear and vendor+sponsor gear.

I am open to any suggestions.

Guys... I am very sorry, but Dali Ikon 6 will be a nightmare to bring down from the second floor! The grills are broken, the sharp spikes need to be removed using a special spanner and I have no boxes for the speakers either. I will bring Exposure 3010S2 Integrated and Atlas Hyper 3.0 speaker cable.

I believe that we have some excellent choices for speakers and more important than a lot of equipments would be more mix and match combinations from a few chosen components which are otherwise not easy to audition. Dali ikon 6 (mk1) has been heard by everybody I think!

Once again sorry to disappoint those who were wanting Dali Ikon 6.

Hi Guys,

A track that has helped me audition a lot of audio gear in the past has been Aja by Steely Dan. I have a vinyl for the same which I can get with me. In case you guys find that fit as an auditioning track for the meet, do let me know and I shall get it.

For folks who have not heard this song, check it out at the following link (low quality but will give an idea) :

@Malvai : What all Vinyls are you planning to carry along?

Cheers

^^was thinking of carrying AJA, but since u already are, I'll get "can't buy a thrill"...

apart from that, I was thinking of getting fleetwood mac - rumors, one of my U2 Vinyls, Pink Floyd - DSOM & Wish You Were Here, sinatra & jobim, Led Zep IV, Michael Jackson -Off the wall, some Indian Classical (not sure which)... and I guess i will ask Cybervinay to get some Hindi.

For the DAC, i'll be getting a HDD and my lappie, that has abour 700 GB of A grade flac and High Def albums.

That is a wholesome list. And since you already are carrying your vinyls, it would be great if you can carry AJA as well. Would also give me a chance of listening to a different pressing.

Cheers

Update, the following have been arranged:

- Carpeting for the Hall (To prevent reflection from marble flooring)

- A cloth partition for the main listening area (To separate it from reflections from rest of the room)

- Seating for 40 people
HOWEVER the main listening area will will have about 10 chairs in a crescent formation. Because if chairs were placed like a movie hall back to back then people sitting behind first row will not be able to hear sound properly.

So for main listening area, 1 group will have to sit on the carpet, then one group on chair, and one group standing behind them. This way everyone will be able to hear.

Ok guys,

We're set for the 13th. Arranged for everything at the venue except food and water.

Preparations are for 40 people +/- 5 people.
40 Chairs + 4 tables + 10 carpets + 1 partition + labour + Venue rent, total came to approx Rs. 8000.

Lakozy's entire sponsor money is gonna run out on just venue arrangements, so I'm trying to rope in another sponsor for food and drinks (Snob Shop Gurgaon)

If they refuse (I'll know tomorrow)..shall have to figure out something else for food etc.

I have pm's sitting in my inbox which I have not replied to yet, I promise to get back to you guys tomorrow. After that I'm going to update the spreadsheet with updated data.

Good thinking...all the best!!

BTW focus more on meeting and to have hang of equipment.. good opportunity -- as many speakers and large space and no of people all affect listening and real room results may be surprisingly different!!

once again corr - nice efforts - have a rocking meet!!:clapping::clapping::yahoo::yahoo:
