Any links for a decently priced cable that will be required to connect it to the AVR?
Sorry man - missed checking on the updates on the thread yesterday evening before posting my Q.
And - I didnt notice that this happens only on the HD channels with DD.

yeah..sorry I thought that new tata sky HD plus audio was messing with my setup hence I posted here . Anyways, I think I got it resolved . Removed two pin RCA RL cable that was connected to LCD alongwith HDMI . Now the connection is pretty simple , DVD/Receiver ( HTIB ) HDMI to LCD , TATA SKY -HDMI to LCD and optical to DVD / receiver from tata sky. Also had to select pro logic in settings for surround etc.
Lessen leared. RTFM.

im from trichy and tata sky HD + is not available here. called customer care on wed and they asked to get it in chennai(relative's place) and do installation in trichy. so i booked it over phone for cash on delivery. they promised me it will be delivered in chennai within 48hrs that is within friday. but it wasnt the case. made a couple of calls on fri and on sat too. after i went harsh they delivered it on sat eve without recieving the cash. they have given me another tatra sky's installation men's number in trichy. when he does the installation here i need to pay him 4k
my question now is i have sony DAV DZ150 home theatre system. and it doesnt have either coax or optical audio input. it only has an RCA LR audio input. will 5.1 audio be outputed from my speakers through that connection?

The Airtel guys came for installation at my place. Their DV recorder is not HD. The specs in the box say Video output HDMI is fixed at 576p. I refused the DVR. They are getting me a plain HD box.
I would have preferred Tata Sky+ HD but it is not available.
Had the Tata sky plus hd installed last week.
Is the sound quality of the cricket HD channels actually good? I find the 5.1 sound extremely distracting. The commentary seems to randomly shift from the center channel to the surround channels and back.
It's a tad annoying isn't it? Only upside is that the picture quality is brilliant and of course, no ads!

They have enough Quantity but due to Sun Storm the Secondary transponder is hit and they are prioritizing Metro Connection in Band width shortage
Can you tell me why I am not getting DD 5.1 when I uses HDMI? :sad:

The Airtel HD box has only ESPN HD but not Star Cricket HD. I have sent it back because most of the good games are on Star Cricket and not ESPN. I guess I will have to go with Dish TV if I want to watch the WC in HD. Anyone has the Dish HD service?

Yea..... thats why I didnt say anything much about the audio part, its not 5.1 per se, but anyway, picture quality is amazing, and for audio, I change the mode from my AVR to stereo, which results in a much better sound ....

Thats not possible my Brother in law has airtel HD and I have seen Star Cricket HD on it. The only thing is the channel is mixed in the non HD usual channels, and its a bit difficult to find the HD channels, unlike TataSky where all the HD channels are grouped together under HD tag ....
Though the quality, clarity is not at par with Tatasky HD
Yes, stereo is much better than simulated 5.1. But the picture quality of Star cricket HD and ESPN HD is amazing :clapping: I have changed the resolution from 1080i to 720p to improve the speed. Anyone knows what is the actual resolution before it gets scaled up by the HD+ box?

Airtel HD box does have Star Cricket HD. Watched the second half of Ind-Bangladesh Match in HD from Brother-in-law's place on AirtelHD box.

It is surprising that Tata Sky + HD is not available in Mumbai. If you have asked the dealer, he might have mislead you.
I booked my connection through a nearby dealer on the night of 16 Feb because I had a doubt whether Tata Sky shall provide me the service as I stay out side the Mumbai metro city, just adjacent to Mumbai though (at Virar) . On 18 afternoon i received my work order number and they informed me that the technician shall come at 20.20 hrs. I was out with my family to attend cousin's marriage. So I sent them message to make it on 19. I came home at 18.30. Nobody turned on that (18) night. on 19 at around 1100 hrs i received a call from their technician that they are coming at 1230 hrs. I went to the dealer and collected my box. The technicians arrived at 1230 finished their job at 1340. They told me that they had come to my house yesterday (18) at 1530 hrs.(3 hours before time) but my house was locked. (i did notice their miss call on 18 later but did not called back thinking it might be marketing call.
In short the service in Mumbai is very good i suppose. However it seems the service is not upto the mark in other parts. The technicians told me that they are installing around 4 HD connections daily in my town.
on 19 evening I called their call centre to activate the HD service but their system was being upgraded.
Today i.e. on 20 afternoon I recharged through call centre and activated HD pack.
I have installed it in my bedroom on my LG HD Monitor cum TV of 23 inch through HDMI1 (it has 2 HDMI connections). I have PC based surround speakers hence for the time being no surround sound for HD channels. Though the monitor is TN based The HD picture quality is GREAT. The 23 inch do not feel small from a distance of 7-8 feet may be because previously I used to watch TV in 4:3 format only as I do not like stretched or upscaled SD content.
I can pause and play but is yet to find how to watch recorded stuff afterwards or how to stop recording which is going on.

Are you guys sure about the Airtel HD having Star Cricket in HD. It shows only ESPN HD in the menu. There is Star cricket but not HD. This is important because I was planning to give back my Airtel HD in the morning as it did not have Star Cricket.
I live in Kalyan. The Tata call center told me that the Tata HD services are not available in Thane district. The dealer promised to get it for me though he could not deliver.

Just got off the phone with technical support in the Airtel customer care. They have only 2 HD Channels. ESPN HD and Nat Geo HD. Star cricket is only in SD. Looks like I will have to wait for the Tata box or go with Dish HD (which does not have 5.1 sound)

I am ABSOLUTELY sure ..... may be its listed as just Star Cricket in the menu I am not sure but I have seen star cricket HD on Airtel, positive on that ... allajunaki as well has confirmed this ..... ..... funny part is we both watched it at our brother in laws place ...... lolzzz
